I needed to get some groceries.
have I told you about Utkonos.ru?
I am sure I have - it is an online grocery site. It is in russian, but it has pictures and google translate does a decent job translating.
usually.
So I was looking for floor cleaner. I clicked the heading "goods for the home" and got this sub header:
Mops, Brushes for Sex, Brooms and Shovels.
Am I juvenile for finding it hilarious?
btw - I emailed it to Leo for a laugh and he didnt find it as amusing as I did.
his response : пол is gender - as in male or female. It also means floor. No one thinks of "screwing" when they hear the word пол, kat.
yeah, well I do - and so does google translate!
bwahahahaha

I also found it quite "odd" when used in with cleaning products.
ReplyDeleteI laughed! And, my thoughts were right there with you....
ReplyDeleteVery funny. I chuckled reading a menu today in St. P. There was a dish called something like "Satisfied Daddy" (сытый папа). The translation is correct, but it still sounds funny in English. There was also something called "Chicken with herbals."
ReplyDeleteBwahahahahha,
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you.
Don't get me started on words I learned in Chinese that made me laugh like an adolescent boy . . .
ReplyDeleteIm with you and Mimi, I love it!
ReplyDeleteof course you do....duh

I love reading all your posts! Thank you for the website Utkonos.ru. I will be moving to Moscow next year and I was curious about the foods available. It is also going to be a great way to practice my Russian (reading that is).
ReplyDeleteThanks again for all that you share !!
HAHHHH!!!! Love it! Stuff like that always cracks me up, too...
