call me olga

just file this under weird kid stuff.

so I was teaching natasha her name. we would point to each person and say "name, whatever" you know - "name, mama" "Name pappous" "name christina" (my sister) etc. So we point to her and say "Name Tushi".

We started this about a month and a half ago. She never answered.

Then, she started to point to herself and say "name Olga".
Olga?
We know 1 olga- the kids piano teacher, and we pretty much keep Natasha out of the room during lessons.

I didnt even know she knew her name!

So we would say - "no, name Tushi". To which she would reply "no, name olga" - pointing to herself.

OK the first few times it was funny, but then I started to worry.

Nothing against the name Olga, but, uhm, it is not her name!

Finally after about 2 weeks (and a lot of happy dances if she tried to say her name), she started saying "Tushi" when asked her name.

But she does call Olga on her play cell phone quite a bit.

"Hi Olga! ok, Bye bye Olga!"

  1. I renamed myself Susie when I was about that age. My parents bought a doll and said, "this is Susie, you are Mimi"

  2. For some reason my grandson spent about a year referring to himself as "Dennis". We all tried to hear some varient of "Calvin" (his name) in that - but his speaking became clearer and clearer - no way he was trying to say "Calvin". Fortunately, he grew out of that!

  3. LOL! My kids never did that, but my third child, somewhere around the age of four, when visitors were trying to figure out whether he looked more like me or my husband, he announced, "I look like the mailman." Now where on earth did he get THAT? (It was a tad embarrassing.)
